History

The first colony – an isolated hamlet of Berkovets – appeared on the territory of the community near the Irpin river close to Kyiv. Then, in 1900, a section of the Kyiv-Kovel railway was built here. So, the Bilychi station was opened and a sawmill was put into operation. The colony gradually formed around this infrastructure, which later grew into the settlement of Kotsyubynske. The building of the station, which was constructed at the same time according to a typical design project, has been preserved.

Today, the settlement borders Kyiv, and the nearest metro station Akademmistechko is a 10-minute drive away.
Thus, a significant part of residents work in the capital city.

Economy and Well-Being

The settlement was formed as a powerful industrial zone in the suburbs of Kyiv.

During the times of independence, the community’s industrial potential retained its main specialization: woodworking and furniture production, small metallurgy, stoneworking. Founded in 1900, Ukrkabel LLC, one of the country’s oldest enterprises manufacturing cable products, still operates here.

A team of specialists under the leadership of Serhiy Danish develops the infrastructure of the community and works on the comfort and safety of its residents.

Community and War

The settlement is located between Irpin and Kyiv, and in fact was the last line of defense of Kyiv. Irpin’s heroic resistance prevented the invaders from reaching this line. Irpin and then Hostomel and Bucha could be seen burning from the upper floors of the buildings here.

With the beginning of a full-scale war in the community, the Humanitarian Headquarters was promptly created, a volunteer unit was formed, and evacuation was organized.

The settlement was locked, and the residents in the shelters were joined by those who were able to leave Irpin by different routes. Volunteers together with the military at checkpoints controlled the situation. The greatest value of the community is people!

The vigorous activity of people who were entrepreneurs, deputies, teachers, economists in peacetime and then became volunteers and aid coordinators under the leadership of Serhiy Danish during hostilities allowed avoiding a humanitarian catastrophe.

The community miraculously managed to avoid significant destruction, the social infrastructure was not damaged, however warehouses were destroyed, and the premises of some production enterprises were damaged.

Here they provide support to internally displaced persons and help the Ukrainian military.
